Two Fantastic Ways to Experience the Beauty of Sydney Harbor, Australia

by R.E. Aconley

Sydney harbor is arguably one of the most beautiful harbors in the world. Try these two fantastic ways to experience the beauty of it. Take the famous Captain Cook Coffee Cruise around the harbor and go up the massive Sydney Tower for a bird's eye view of the harbor.

If you go to Sydney then you must take a cruise around the harbor and one of the best ways is the Captain Cook Coffee Cruise. You will see all the best of Sydney harbor including the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the fantastic Sydney Opera House, Fort Dennison, Botanical Gardens and lots of palatial waterfront homes. The Coffee Cruise takes about two and a half hours and you can join it at the central Circular Quay.

You immediately sail past the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. Get your cameras ready because the Opera House is photogenic from many different angles. The cruise then heads out down the harbour past the Botanical Gardens and the famous Mrs.Macquaries seat. You can get a great photo of both the Bridge and the Opera House if you go to the back of the boat at this point.

As you travel down the harbor you will pass numerous beautiful bays, beaches, parks and many superb waterfront homes. Watch out for Watson's Bay which houses the famous Doyle's seafood restaurant and you can see the house that used to belong to Elton John. The cruise then goes into the upper reaches of the Middle harbor where some stunning homes seem to cascade down to the waterside. Enjoy your coffee break as the cruiser glides along.

The cruise returns back to Circular Quay on the other side of the harbor. Watch out for the famous Sydney Taronga Zoo where the Giraffes have an amazing view over the Sydney city skyline. You will also pass Fort Dennison, where the convicts were sent as a place of punishment in the early days of the settlers.

In the center of Sydney you can go up the Sydney Tower. It is 1001 ft high (305metres) and it offers a magnificent view over Sydney harbor. If you do the Coffee Cruise before you go up the tower then you can easily pinpoint where the harbor cruise had taken you.

There is also the added bonus of a complete 360 degrees outlook over the Sydney area if you go up the tower. You can see all the main attractions of Sydney from the top of the tower. Look out for Bondi beach, Sydney Olympic stadium, Sydney cricket ground, Manley beach and the Blue mountains in the far distance. It is also possible to enjoy a meal in the rotating restaurant and enjoy panoramic views as you dine.

Sydney harbor is an amazing sight, especially if you take these two fantastic ways to experience the beauty of it.
